The painting captures the aesthetic of a histological section of human skin viewed under a microscope.

The color palette evokes the classic H&E (hematoxylin and eosin) stain used in pathology: the deep purple of the nuclei in the epidermis and the salmon-pink network of collagen fibers in the dermis.

What is fascinating about microbiology is that the very small (cells, tissues) often looks exactly like the very large (galaxies, nebulae in space, etc.). The image serves as a perfect visual bridge for the Hermetic principle: "As above, so below." This principle holds that the laws of the universe at the atomic level (microcosm) are exactly the same as those governing the infinitely large (macrocosm).
